It doesn't work

Dont throw your money, this telephoto is not for Cannon powershot g11. We've tríed many ways to set it on the camera, and none of them worked.

I read the other review "Love this Lens" and I bought it. Take a look at the pictures I posted and judge for yourself. It's been said that pictures don't lie. I have tried ALL the settings and every possible combination. I am an advanced amateur photographer shooting both digital and film for almost 40 years. This lens is horrible - as in absolutely horrible.Vignetting - yeah, I expected some. Soft focus, also expected some - but this is ridiculous. Chromatic aberration simply makes this lens unusable. I actually have WORSE photos taken with this adapter than the one I posted, but in fairness I posted an "average" photo. Like I said, the pictures speak for themselves.If the 'Series 1' is Vivitar's best, I would hate to see their standard line.

The description doesn't tell you that as it arrives, this won't even screw on the G11 camera.When I complained,I was told that my camera should have had an adapter with it. I had kept the box with everything that came with the camera and found there was no such adapter.I had to buy an adapter kit. I looked at reviews for several and bought the one that was recommended the highest. I received it and put it on with the lens - I found I could only use it with TWO adapters (which came as a kit) and then it only gives a full frame view at full zoom. Anything less causes vignetting.Used with ONE adapter,the camera's lens hits the telephoto lens when you zoom, gives a 'lens error' message and shuts the camera down. So even if there WAS an adapter in with the camera, it wouldn't have allowed this lens to work.Describing this as "For the Canon G11 camera" is very misleading. What is it good for? Your guess is as good as mine.
