Minimally better than 1.5x at a cost

This lens will pick up greater central detail than (for example) the otherwise vastly better Canon 1.5x, but with a huge overall reduction in general quality. If you need more detail in the center of the image and little else matters, then this might be worth it. For ~200, the Raynox is the best 'cheapo' lens available and is much, much better.
