Superb cost effective teleconverter for Lumix LX5

I was amazed by the quality of this lens considering the price. The lens is a 58mm screw fit but comes with not only a 52mm-58mm adapter BUT ALSO a lens extender to fit on the Lumix LX5, as I show in the uploaded images.The lens seems to work fairly well - extending the magnification by a reported factor of 2.2x. I haven't measured it yet but it certainly makes a difference to the one slight complaint of insufficient zoom that I had with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 10.1 MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD - Black.The overall combination of extender/adapter/lens does make the final camera very bulky and unbalanced, but it remains easy to use and, for the money, is well worth the effort.It is fairly quick to get on and off, which is necessary if you don't want to take every photo at a magnification of 2x.The one negative is that the lens cover is quite loose fitting which means there is a likelihood of it getting lost, but other than that I cannot fault it!

Need to learn how to use it...

It is an Ok lens. Doesnt really reduce the amount of light coming in, but the sharpness is only kept around the center. That's what you get for the price. If you can stop down aperture to make it a bit sharper and keep the subject more less in the middle - you're fine. Definitely not a landscape lens - you will have blurred arounds. But with more shots taken I learned to pay attention to that drawback and keep what I'm shooting around the center and sharp.

The only drawback to my Lumix Lx5 is the telephoto. It only goes to 90 mm. I figured I might need a little more reach on my trip. I was right. It is just a glorified magnifying lens, but it works. The image is not overly degraded. You will get tunneling, unless you extend the telephoto. It is the same quality as an OEM lens. Who know, because Panasonic does not make a telephoto lens for the Lumix LX5. I'm sure I could pay more and get a better quality, but the next level is so much more. This will do until Lumix decides to make a telephoto lens. They make a fine macro for it.
