An Opteka High Definition 500mm preset telephoto lens incorporates not only computer optical design, but also the latest optical multi-coating techniques. The process of multi-coating assures virtually flare free photographs even under adverse lighting conditions resulting in crisp, high contrast pictures.
Preset Lenses are designed to retain a full range of exposure, automation and metering capabilities of the cameras on which they are mounted. This lens is great for nature and sports photography. The amazing power of this lens gives you the equivalent of looking through a pair of 10x power binoculars. It has a manual preset diaphragm, a rotating tripod mounting collar and a soft lens pouch.
Advances in high-index / low-dispersion optical glasses, new barrel materials, and exotic anti-reflection coatings, along with the latest in computer-aided-design / computer-aided-manufacturing, are combined to produce lenses of unprecedented quality. Diamond-cut from crystal-clear, water-white optical glass, Opteka lenses are ground and polished to a precise precision.

Great for the price.

Ok I will be honest to you all, I got more than I can bargain for. Delivery came quick and within a few days. I have not tried it out yet, but I will give it a shot this weekend. This lens is not only F8 so you do have a good depth of field up to 32(16-64 using a 2X converter). I will try the lens in A/V mode but I am suspecting I will have to use the manual mode which is not a problem for me having started with a K1000. It is a bargain and you can really test your photography skills with this. I will follow up with the results of my road test on my twitter account when I get to use it. OK wonder why I did not run out and use it already? When I attached the adapter, the hex screws were so loose that it came apart, so that was a downer for me. It would have been great if I had that size hex wrench, but among all the tools I have I do not have that size. It would have been nice to add one into the box with the adapter. I will have to run to the store today and get a few sizes to have in my bag and to make the necessary adjustment. More to follow later.03/17/13Back from my trip and to say I am very satisfied with the lens' performance. If you are not shy and do not mind operating in the manual mode, this is a great lens. I just realized I will need a heavier tripod, as where I vacation all the time in Aruba it is very windy and the tripod needs a bit more weight be steadier but what I have right now will do. I did not use the 2X converter yet but will do so soon in the spring where I have more chances and less wind blowing.
