An Opteka High Definition 500mm preset telephoto lens incorporates not only computer optical design, but also the latest optical multi-coating techniques. The process of multi-coating assures virtually flare free photographs even under adverse lighting conditions resulting in crisp, high contrast pictures.
Preset Lenses are designed to retain a full range of exposure, automation and metering capabilities of the cameras on which they are mounted. This lens is great for nature and sports photography. The amazing power of this lens gives you the equivalent of looking through a pair of 10x power binoculars. It has a manual preset diaphragm, a rotating tripod mounting collar and a soft lens pouch.
Advances in high-index / low-dispersion optical glasses, new barrel materials, and exotic anti-reflection coatings, along with the latest in computer-aided-design / computer-aided-manufacturing, are combined to produce lenses of unprecedented quality. Diamond-cut from crystal-clear, water-white optical glass, Opteka lenses are ground and polished to a precise precision.

Great deal, but understand what you're getting

Previous reviews gave me very accurate expectations for this lens, so I am very pleased with it. As cautioned by others, this is a lens only for people who understand photo basics, such as depth of field, exposure, manual focus and bracketing. I'm only rating this at three stars, only because I don't want someone to just look at the rating, and not read the qualifications. But I found the quality actually better than I expected, and it's an outstanding deal for the price. You can get good photos out of this lens if you work at it. If you need point and shoot capability, save your money for a more convenient lens.

Op-taker!

I got this lens for shooting ROTC training exercises and field drills at Truman State University... The results have been astounding, mainly due to the ease with which you can shoot close-ups from relatively long distances without being obtrusive and alerting your subject (believe me, cadets don't like cameras in their faces when they're being pushed to the limits). With this lens, the sun is your best friend therefore you should choose your location and setting carefully. Tawanda Kanhema.
